9 Positive actions for wellbeing

Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success. - Shiv Khera

Pure self love is the commitment to personal growth. I believe this is essential to our well being.

Great change comes from creating consistent small positive changes every day and once dedicated to positive change, the improvements you will see in yourself and your life in a month over three months, six months or a year will amaze you.

It takes 21 days to create a new habit and 90 days to make a permanent lifestyle change and being consistent is the key.

Below is a list of 9 positive actions which I believe will help to create positive change in your life:

1. Set your alarm to get up earlier in the morning.

Get up a half an hour or preferably, one hour earlier in the morning and use this time to exercise, meditate, take a walk, read some spiritual material and journal your thoughts and feelings. This is a regular practice that sets you up for success as this extra time in the morning puts you ahead of the day.  It may seem hard at first to get up earlier and you may decide to go to bed at night earlier too, but once you have adjusted, you begin to enjoy and appreciate the extra you-time and freedom this brings you every day.

2. Shower in cold water for 1-2 minutes every morning.

Shower in hot water and then rinse off for 1-2 minutes in cold water. Having a cold shower every morning, wakes you up and brings you right to the present moment. The cold water is invigorating and the benefits are protection for your immune system, it helps combat depression, improves circulation and improves your metabolism.

3. Start and end your day with prayer and positive affirmations.

Saying prayers first thing and last thing at night plus saying positive affirmations first thing in the morning before you start your day, puts you into a positive mindset focused on manifesting your goals.  This practice is so beneficial to your wellbeing.

4.  Before you go to sleep at night write down a gratitude list.

Writing down in your journal all the things you are grateful for, prepares you for a positive and restful night’s sleep. Gratitude is also the foundation for attracting your desires.

5.  Manifest what you desire by creating a vision board.

Create a vision board of all that you desire and look at it as often as you can during the day.  This will help you to attract your goals and desires easily.  Create the vision board as a screensaver on your phone or PC and when you look at it feel happy emotions as if you already have what you desire.

6.  Declutter your living space.

Take a drawer or cupboard a day and give to charity or sell what you don’t need. In a small amount of time you will have cleared out all the unnecessary clutter.  Remember anything you don’t use is clutter.  A clear home will help you to think clearer and feel calmer.

7.  Don’t take life too seriously.

Find reasons to laugh, by putting humour into your life. In difficult times see the funny side of life. Laughter stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles and is also a great stress reliever. Aim to laugh whenever you can and if you can’t find anything to laugh about, then smile! Smiling helps you fight off stress.

8.  Aim to perform one act of kindness a day but keep it to yourself.

Perform a random act of kindness; offer to help someone, compliment a stranger, do a charity run, pay for someone’s coffee or help someone with their shopping.  Pay it forward by doing something kind for another person.

9.  Focus on mindfulness by living in the present moment.

Notice how calm and peaceful it is to live in the present moment. Enjoy the serenity of the power of now.  Whatever you are doing e.g. eating a meal, notice the taste, the texture of your food and the scent of your food.  Pause to enjoy every mouthful, every taste and sensation. Practising mindfulness is an antidote to anxiety and depression.

Positive thoughts create positive actions and a positive life.
