How to make your breath your anchor

If you are having a difficult day and you’re starting to feel anxious, what strategies do you have in place to help you through this?

Do you have an anchor that you can rely on so that you can keep yourself strong?  Creating a positive anchor can help you work through intense thoughts and feelings.

You can use many things as a positive anchor but using breathwork is an energetically empowering practice that can really make a huge difference to your wellbeing bringing you to a place of calm. This technique can be used anywhere at any time and in any situation when you start to feel panicky or anxious.

Block Breathing

Firstly, become aware of your breathing

Then to the count of 4 slowly breathe in letting your stomach inflate, filling up your lungs

Hold your breath to the count of 4

Breathe out slowly to the count for the 4

Hold your breath before breathing in again to the count of 4

If you practice block breathing and repeat the exercise a minimum of 5 times you will feel that your heart rate slows down, and your thoughts also begin to calm whilst you maintain control of your breathing.

There are adaptations to this practice where you breathe out through alternate nostrils through the practice

Please contact me to show you how to create more positive mindfulness practices.
